Thinking like an Investor
Thinking like an investor means to analyze your daily opportunites for the best investment of your resources to be productive in making your impact. In other words, be serious about your work and get the job done early and on budget.
Your main resources are time, money and knowledge, and every day, you use these resources to lead, manage and promote what you focus your energy and attention on. And everything you think, say and do makes an impact on yourself, and everyone you connect with.
This 4-step preparation process will help you improve your results in making your impact. It’s best used to plan out a specific commitment over a specific period of time.
Step 1: Prioritize Values
As you make your impact, you will have difficult challenges to overcome and grow from. Prioritize your values, by reminding yourself of exactly why you made the decision to take on this investment.
Step 2: Organize Tools and Resources
Determine how much time and money your specific investment will take to complete. Then identify all your knowledge assets (things you understand) and knowledge liabilities (things you don’t understand) and make a plan to use your assets and decrease your liabilities by seeking experts. Boom!
Step 3: Strategize Activity
Consider your complete scope of work, including all the tasks, meetings, projects, deadlines and stages of growth that make up your impact. Determine the best path of completing the process from where you’re starting and thoroughly count your costs so you make wise and profitable investments.
Step 4: Take ACTION!
When you think like an investor, you have 4 roles:
1. To Govern by exercising authority over your soul. (Your mind, will and emotions.)
2. To Rule as a King or a Queen, and set the moral/ethical standard.
3. To Control your thoughts, words and actions.
4. To Manage your schedule, jobs and assignments aka your work.
As you build the habit of doing this consistently, you will be increasingly more productive in making your impact.
