How to Handle the “no’s” in Business
You might hear more no’s than yeses in the beginning stages of being an entrepreneur, but as you persevere and continue to serve the people who need what you offer, you will learn what it takes to turn a no into a yes and how to leverage someone’s no to get someone else’s yes.
This blog post is for you if you’ve ever felt defeated or rejected after receiving a no from a potential client or customer and you want to overcome those feelings and feel confident even when people say no. Applying the perspective shifts and tips we share will help you take your self-confidence and your business to the next level.
So instead of taking someone’s no to purchasing your offer as if they’re rejecting you, look at it like your offering isn’t perfect for them right now. Although you’ve invested hours of hard work, sweat and tears into producing your offering, it’s not for everyone and having that seperation between you and your offering will allow you to be objective in your sales process. Your amazingness does not increase nor decrease because of the success or failure of your business! You are amazing regardless! Just be yourself and share what you have to offer. The people who need what you have will take ACTION.
The next perspective shift is this: View every objection as an opportunity to build trust and earn commitment. Apply these 5 tips to help potential customers/clients see the value they will recieve from what you offer and help them make the decision to purchase.
Tip #1: Do your research!
Position your offering as the solution to the problem(s) they’ve been trying to solve. Help them see how your offering will help them change their life.
Tip #2: Make sure you’ve done your job.
Did you highlight the key features of your offering and how they meet customers needs? Did you make it relevant to them, showing how they would benefit? If the answer is no, this is what you need to do to articulate the value of your offering better.
Tip #3: Ask questions to understand their objections.
What do they think about you, your business and what you offered? Ask them directly for their feedback to get a good idea of their perspective and how you can improve your approach in the future.
Tip #4: Clearly address their concerns and offer solutions/alternatives.
What is their motive to Take ACTION? How will your offering help them solve their problems? Speak directly about their objections and answer their questions so they understand that what they’d be buying is worth their time, money and energy.
Tip #5: Spend quality time with quality people.
The key here is preparing an exit strategy for every conversation. Determine how to end the conversation on a good note even if they don’t make a purchase. How can they make a purchase later? Can they refer their friends/family? Just plant the seed.
Getting good at using these 5 tips in your sales process will help you increase your self-confidence because you have a solid method for overcoming objections and closing deals. And as you do that, you will inevitably increase your impact, influence and income!
